Calan Mai 2023

This year for the first time at the Monastery of Annwn we will celebrating Calan Mai together. Our focus will be on the battle of Gwyn ap Nudd (Winter’s King) and Gwythyr ap Greidol (Summer’s King) for Creiddylad, who is a Goddess of seasonal sovereignty.* At this time of year Gwyn is defeated by Gwythyr and Creiddylad returns from the Otherworld to Thisworld as Summer’s Queen.

In this ritual we will be meditating on the battle of Gwyn and Gwythyr for Creiddylad, mourning the death of Gwyn, and welcoming Creiddylad back to the land.

We will be hosting an online event in collaboration with Land Sea Sky Travel as one of Thornsilver Hollysong‘s regular Gwyn Day Thursdays. This will take place on Thurs 4th May 1pm EST / 6pm BST – 2pm EST / 7pm BST.

All are welcome and you can join the event HERE.**

For those who can’t attend our online ritual or would prefer to celebrate on the traditional date of the 1st of May attached is a PDF of our ritual format.
